NTA 8120 provides general specifications for optimal management of (external) safety, quality and capacity of the electricity and gas networks in The Netherlands.
NTA 8120 focuses on all phases of the life cycle with the ultimate goal to prevent defects, failures and incidents, and also managing their consequences in case these occur nevertheless.
The NTA has been developed by operators, regulators and service providers. The requirements are based on the requirements set in ISO 55000. In fact, NTA 8120 is a branche specific translation of ISO 55000 for electricity and gas management.
By meeting the requirements of NTA 8120, operators can show the Dutch regulator that they comply with their demands.
There are to develop other branche specific standards based on ISO 55000. These are related to infrastructure, water, health care and real estate.
